RPIBracket.com Official Launch

Indianapolis, Indiana - February 23, 2009

Today, college basketball fans now have a brand new way to look at the NCAA Tournament Bracket -- The RPI Bracket, the brainchild of local computer consultant and sports fan Joe Mack. The RPI Bracket is the only bracket that focuses entirely on objective data and not subjective opinions to provide a true measure of which teams are the best teams in college basketball at any given time.

When asked about the thought process behind creating the RPI Bracket during a recent interview, Joe Mack said: "We wanted to create a bracket based strictly on data because we were sick and tired of hearing all of the analysis and rhetoric year after year by the so-called experts. We have incorporated what we feel are the important data points into our key metric, the T.I., or Tournament Index, which we generate for each team on a daily basis. We feel that it provides a pretty accurate portrayal of which teams should be rewarded with a tournament invitation at any given point in time. "

"Unlike other sites that use bracketology to try to determine what the selection committee is going to do, we decided to come up with a series of statistically relevant metrics that generates an objective set of data for each team, including their T.I., ranks the teams according to their T.I., and builds a bracket based on that information. The best part is that by using a computer algorithm to take care of things, we have guaranteed that our bracket will always be free from the shameless conference favoritism and revenue chasing we have come to expect on selection Sunday."

Joe Mack describes the RPI Bracket web site. "If you look through our web site, you will get a brief explanation of the concepts behind the RPI Bracket, as well as being able to see the current bracket at any time. We also have a section titled 'Just for Geeks' where we explain the technical concepts we used in gathering, storing and presenting the data. If the level of interest continues to grow at the rate it has been growing so far, we are looking at adding some interesting interactive features for next year."
